Crisis intervention
Crisis intervention – is a specialized form of psychological assistance offered to individuals experiencing sudden, intense emotional strain that exceeds their usual coping capacity. Crises may result from events such as loss, accidents, abrupt life changes, violence, conflict, difficult diagnoses, or other situations provoking feelings of threat, helplessness, or disorganization. The aim of crisis intervention is to restore a sense of safety, stabilize emotions, and support the individual in regaining control over the situation. The intervention involves attentive listening, normalization of emotional responses, identification of immediate needs, and collaborative exploration of potential solutions and available support resources.Crisis intervention is short-term and focused on the present, providing a space in which the individual can feel safe, understood, and cared for, while taking the necessary steps toward regaining psychological equilibrium and functional stability.
